We teach Medical Students

We are a teaching practice for Sunderland University medical students, and we are proud to be involved in training tomorrow’s doctors.

We would be grateful if you would please agree to see a medical student at the surgery.

The student will ask the questions usually asked by the GP and may also request to examine you under supervision and guidance of the GP.

This will be very similar to a ‘normal’ GP consultation except that the GP may not be present when you talk to the student but will see you straight after.

The GP will be supervising the student, has overall responsibility for your consultation today and will be responsible for all decisions about your care as usual.

Please also note that:

  • You can refuse to see the student.
  • You can ask the student to stop at any time during the consultation.
  • You can leave the consultation at any time.
  • You can ask for the GP to take over at any time.

Please be reassured that the care you receive from the practice will not be affected in any way by you choosing any of these options.

We have students from both Newcastle University and Sunderland University
